FAQ
Can I edit my story?
You can do minimal editing within the fifteen minutes allotted, although this should mostly be limited to things such as fixing typos.

When will each new word be posted?
Depending on your time-zone, they will be posted on Friday or Saturday.

What am I allowed to write?
Absolutely anything! Fanfic, original fic, poetry, remiscences, anecdotes... The point is to write on the go and (hopefully) surprise yourself with the results.

Can I write a ficlet for an older word?
Yes, of course! Sometimes, one word a week just isn't enough, so feel free to browse through the archives and write a ficlet inspired by any of the words from previous weeks.

Is there a limit to how explicit a story can be?
We accept stories of any ratings, provided the rating and any warnings are clearly stated in the summary.

If the prompt should inspire more than one ficlet, can I post all of them?
It's fine to post more than one ficlet if the word inspires them both. The more stories, the better!

How does the prompt word get picked?
It's chosen randomly from a dictionary.

Does the prompt word have to be used in the ficlet, or can it be more of the inspiration for the ficlet?
No, the prompt word does not have to be included in the ficlet. It's purely there to inspire you.

Why don't I have posting access for the community?
The only posts made in the community are the weekly prompt words, therefore only the mods have posting access. We encourage you to post your ficlets in a comment, either as a link to the ficlet in your own journal or in the actual body of the comment.

Can I affiliate with you?
Yes, please! If you'd like to affiliat with us, either comment on this post with your community's details.

Do you have a question that hasn't been answered here? If so, please comment on this entry and we will answer it as soon as possible.

I'm sorry I couldn't respond earlier! Stupid work... I can read comments but I can't respond to them.

I'm so glad that you guys decided to continue with this idea! I joined 15minuteficlets this month...just in time to see that it would be closing in a couple weeks. :(

THANK YOU! I'll be here from the beginning...well, almost. I'll be able to start with Word #2!

You're most welcome! And thank-you for joining in. :)

You're most welcome, yourself. :) I actually just finished my ficlet, so I will be posting a link to it momentarily.

I have a question...

Since this community is almost-brand new, would you mind if I did a 15 minute ficlet for the previous word (Word #1) and submitted it? (I've already submitted mine for Word #2, but I would really like to start from the very beginning, if you will allow me to, please.)

Yes, you most certainly can do that. :)

Awesome! Thanks! I worked on one for Word #1 while I waited for a reply (hoping that it would be 'yes') so now I can just go and post it. :D

No, the prompt word does not have to be included in the ficlet. It's purely there to inspire you. :)

Does the fiction have to be of a particular genre?? Or can it be, say, a Harry Potter fanfic and then a GossipGirl fanfic??

It can be whatever you feel like writing at the time. Original fiction, fanfic of any type from any genre, non-fiction, a personal recollection... seriously anything!

Hey, is there any way to search for a particular prompt? I remember that the word was silent or silence, probably in 2008?
Please, help me, my harddrive crashed and I lost a lot of stuff, but it was originally posted here!

Firstly, my apologies for the outrageously late reply to this comment. I never received the email notification for it and I only happened to notice it as I was editing the FAQ today.

At the moment, there's no easy way to search for a particular prompt, although I have plans to create a masterlist of prompt words (as suggested by blackspandex) which would definitely help you out in this situation.

I have a personal masterlist of words at home, so I'll check that later this evening and send you a link to it.

oh wow, I had completely forgotten about this! Thanks, if you come up with any way to find it again, that would be great!

Hi! I just thought I would jump in here. I posted the word list with some of the dates marked to make finding entries a bit easier. You can browse through it at your leisure and see if any words look familiar. :) It's the first part at the top of the page.

I had a look through the list for you, but I couldn't find a prompt word that matched silent or silence. I checked a couple of other words that were similar, but you hadn't written any ficlets for them. If you'd like to find your story, I think you'll need to browse through the older entries for it.

oh, dear- I did try browsing, burt couldn't find it. Thanks for looking- even though I misremembered the prompt:(
maybe if you get a word list up, it will jog my memory and I'll be able to find it then!
Thanks again

If you send me a PM with your email address, I can send the word list to you.

Is there a master wordlist?

There is on my computer but now that you mention it, it would be a good idea to have one here as well. I'll try to get one up next week. Thanks for the suggestion.

^__^ Thank you for letting me know that :3, I appreciate the reply!

Are cross-overs allowed?

Absolutely. You can write anything that takes your fancy. :)
